5. Image resolution

In the image resolution category, the competition was exceptionally tight. All four binoculars feature masterfully designed optical systems packed with high-grade optical elements made from advanced glass types. Furthermore, each manufacturer claims the use of complex eyepieces incorporating dedicated field-flattener lenses.

As a result, assessing sharp resolution at the center of the field of view proved to be extraordinarily difficult. At such high magnification, even a subtle tilt of the eye relative to the optical axis complicated the evaluation. All reviewers emphasized just how challenging this category was and how close the race turned out to be. One tester was unable to identify a clear winner, concluding that all models performed virtually identically. Two others favored the Zeiss, while one picked the Swarovski - though another tester ranked that very same Swarovski dead last. Yet another evaluator placed the Sky Rover and the SLC tied for first, with the Zeiss in last place. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that every binocular in this test performs at an exceptionally high level, making it nearly impossible to declare an absolute winner in center sharpness.

The situation proved somewhat clearer toward the edge of the field of view, which ultimately allowed us to establish the final standings for this category. That said, it is worth noting that all four binoculars set the bar remarkably high here as well.

The leader in this category proved to be the Sky Rover Banner Cloud, placed in first position by no fewer than three testers (though one ranked it tied with another model). This result is all the more impressive given that the Banner Cloud boasts by far the largest field of view - applause, applause, and once more, applause!

Right behind it was the Swarovski SLC, which also earned praise from the majority of reviewers. Third place went to the Zeiss, with the Oberwerk trailing just behind.
