4. Field of view

One of the primary advantages of the 15x56 class is the wide apparent field of view provided by the eyepieces. Values significantly exceeding 60 degrees have been the standard here practically since the inception of this product category.

According to specifications, the largest field of view - a whopping 5.3 degrees - belongs to the Banner Cloud. Oberwerk ranks second with 4.7 degrees, followed by Zeiss at 4.6 degrees, and Swarovski at the bottom with 4.5 degrees. We made sure to verify these figures, measuring the true field of view for each binocular to within an accuracy of 0.04 to 0.05 degrees.

The undisputed leader is indeed the Sky Rover Banner Cloud 15x56 APO, with our measurement coming in at 5.31 degrees - perfectly aligned with the manufacturer's claim. Second place goes to the Oberwerk Ultra ED 15x56, whose actual performance slightly exceeds specifications at 4.80 degrees. There is a small surprise at the back of the pack: the actual result for the Swarovski SLC is slightly higher than stated (4.54 degrees), while the Zeiss came in slightly lower (4.53 degrees). However, both values match within the margin of measurement error, placing the two most expensive models in a tie for third place.
