At the beginning of 2009 Steiner decided to substitute the Ranger series by new Ranger Pro binoculars. Not only the number of models was changed but also some of their basic parameters and the prism system as well.

Classic Porro prism E series models appeared on the market in 1978. At the beginning this series consisted of two pairs of binoculars with the parameters of 8x30 and 10x35 which, in 1984, were complemented by the 7x35 model.

Even several years ago in the 40-42 mm class the Swarovski company offered roof prism SLC New and EL models along with the classic Porro system Habicht. Lately the SLC and EL series were substituted by entirely new models – the SLC HD and EL Swarovison respectively.

The ED Spirit series, produced by the Vanguard company, consists of three pairs of binoculars with the following parameters: 8x36, 8x42 and 10x42. All of them are small and handy roof prism instruments set in the Schmidt-Pechan system.

The German company Steiner has been producing binoculars aimed at four groups of customers: nature watchers, hunters, tourists and yachtsmen and/or sailors. Two series of new products have been designed with exactly these last two groups in mind..

The Geovid HD series of binoculars consists of roof prism models with the following parameters: 8x42, 10x42, 8x56 and 15x56. They were launched in the middle of 2009. According to the producer they are equipped with a modern optical system in HD technology (High Definition Optics).

When it comes to 10x50 binoculars, the situation on the market is quite interesting. In the segment of devices which price doesn’t exceed 220 Euro there is one clear favourite with an excellent price/quality ratio. We think here obviously about the Nikon Action 10x50 EX CF.

The Swarovski Optik Company has just announced two new binoculars with integrated range-finder and angle shot programme. They are roof prism devices with parameters 8x42 and 10x42.

The KF series of the Japanese Fujinon company, launched on the marked in March 2010, consists of three roof prism models with the following parameters: 7x28, 8x42 and 10x42. They feature Schmidt – Pechan prisms which reflecting surface is supposed to be phase correction coated and covered by enhanced silver as well.

Delta Optical Titanium 9x63 is a classic porroprismatic device with typically low light parameters. According to the producer, it will give a splendid image quality with the price tag not too high because of a simple and efficient Porro construction, good quality BaK-4 glass prisms and high quality coatings.
