In 2005 the Delta Optical company decided to launch the Forest series – thought out as handy 42 mm instruments with a very affordable price tag. After six years of their market presence Delta Optical assumed it was time they launched their successors so the Forest II series.

The history of the Carl Zeiss Binoctem 7x50 model goes back to 1919. In that year the Carl Zeiss Binoctar 7x50 was launched - optically the same device but with an individual focusing system. The Binoctem model, featuring a bridge and the central focusing, hit the shelves in 1931. .

The HG L series includes ones of the most expensive, top-of-the-range Nikon binoculars; the producer ensures that they used „everything the best” while producing them. It consists of roof prism models with the following parameters: 8x20, 10x25, 8x32, 10x32, 8x42 and 10x42.

The Fujinon FMT-SX 7x50 is a big and solid pair of binoculars from the top-of-the-range series of this renowned producer which also includes the following models: 8x30 (most likely not produced any more), 7x50, 10x50, 10x70 and 16x70.

Carl Zeiss company has just announced two Conquest HD binoculars with parameters 8x42 and 10x42. Contrary to older Conquest binoculars which were made in Hungary, new Conquests HD are made in Germany. Zeiss points out at large fields of view which are 6.6 and 7.4 deg in 8x42 and 10x42 models, respectively.

Leica Company has just announced new Leica Trinovid 8x42 and 10x42 binoculars. Both instruments are waterproof up to 5 m and nitrogen filled. The fields of view are 7.2 and 6.2, respectively.

Following the release of 42 mm and 50 mm series, Swarovski Optik company has just announced new Swarovski EL 32 Swarovision 8x32 and 10x32 binoculars.

The Steiner Wildlife Pro 8x30 pair of binoculars was for many years the close equivalent of the Steiner Night Hunter XP 8x30. The only difference was the fact that it was aimed at nature observation enthusiasts and the Night Hunter – at hunters.

At the beginning of 2006 a Taiwanese company, William Optics, launched the 7x50 ED model with objectives featuring, among others, one low-dispersion glass element. The pair of binoculars looked very much like FMTR-SX Fujinon products, known for their excellent optical and mechanical properties.

The Night Hunter top-of-the-range series is produced by the German Steiner company and definitely the best when we take into account devices aimed at hunters only. Even several years ago the series consisted solely of porro prism binoculars with the following parameters: 8x30, 9x40, 7x50 and 8x56.

The Vortex Viper 10x42 was undoubtedly a hit of our big 10x42 binoculars test. A pair of binoculars costing less than 2,000 PLN was awarded so many points that it was able to compete with the products of the most renowned companies, which were 3-4 times more expensive.

Today we would like to present the second part of the article which describes the history of Polish Optical Industries (PZO). In the first part of the article we described the beginning and a very quick development of the company which was stopped all of a sudden by the onset of WWII.
