Cons: Clumsy raingard so a 4 for accesories

Pros: I purchased these binoculars a few weeks ago; they were leftovers from old stock since the Nikon EDG is no longer sold in Europe. A few years ago, I had already looked through a 10x pair and wasn\'t really impressed. I returned the binoculars back then, and later I thought they must have been defective. To keep it short, these 7x binoculars are probably the best binoculars I have ever held in my hands. The focusing mechanism is unbeatable and unmatched by any European Alpha, even today. Light transmission is around 90%, and the curve is almost completely flat between 400nm and 700nm across the entire color field of visible light. Again, no binoculars known to me, even come close in that regard. The image is sharp right to the edge, color-accurate, super high-contrast, and three-dimensional, which is not easy for binoculars with a flattened field of view. These binoculars have not really been well-known in Europe, and as a result, are very difficult to find. You can only wish for one thing: that Nikon releases a successor that is even better than this one, if that is even possible.

Summary: If you can buy one, do it, you will never regret it.

Cons: Lens covers a bit loose, the case seems tawdry. Decidedly costly and currently not as bright as some top models from other manufacturers.

Pros: Optically excellent, super correction of chromatic and other aberrations (astigmatism, coma), flat and crisp image almost until the edges, Mechanically very good and very well built as well

Summary: I bought it before it became unavailable as it is happening to most 7x alpha models

Cons: Not as bright as latest alphas (SLC, EL, HT...) No hydrophobic or scratch resistant coating

Pros: Super sweetspot Great DOF Smooth focuswheel Superb abberration correction Good handling

Summary: Great binocular for woods (DOF), soon will become legend as I expect that it will be discontinued.
