User profile: Semipro
Cons: FOV could be a bit wider (but that would require bigger prisms and hence more size and weight) and minimum focus could be a bit closer. Focuser was originally stiff and jerky but came back from Leica almost perfect. Some glare crescents if viewing near the sun.
Pros: Great colour (with no loss of reds like most roofs) & vibrant image, sharp, compact & light for an x42, large exit pupil and steady view mean very easy and relaxing to use - including in low light, sweet spot of 85% without field flatteners, designed and built beautifully - feels like armour, body, optics & focuser will last the distance, good representation of 3D/front-to-back perspectives, least CA of any Leica that I have used - imperceptible in most cases, DOF of the 7x is so nice for following birds and watching groups, plenty of eye relief for use with glasses, good ability to look into shadows, UVs have the best dioptre setting mechanism in the world of binoculars!
Summary: Bought used and now my primary binocular which is taken out most days. Such a relaxed view, natural colours, very sharp (once you get dioptre just right) but not \'over-sharpened\' like e.g. the Noctivid. I cannot understand why 7x has gone out of fashion because for handheld I believe it has so many advtanges. Will become a long-term companion I believe.
