The optical system of the Nikon 7x50IF SP WP consists of an achromatic objective (2 elements in one group), Porro prisms behind which there is an element flattening the field and an eyepiece system with 5 elements positioned in 4 groups.

Kowa is a Japanese producer with a limited line-up which, nevertheless, is quite well-known on the market. Most of it consists of ornithology instruments which not so long ago were entirely produced in Japan.

The Zeiss Conquest series was launched over ten years ago. It consisted of pairs of binoculars produced by Zeiss in a Hungarian plant; overall they released as many as ten different models with the objective lenses diameters ranging from 30 to 56 mm.

Several years ago the Vanguard company launched a series of binoculars called the Endeavor ED, consisting of five roof prism models with the following parameters: 8x32, 8x42, 10x42, 8.5x44 and 10.5x44. That series hardly managed to impact the market properly and the producer soon decided to launch its successor.

In the new EDG series we have five models of binoculars at our disposal with the following parameters: 8x32, 10x32, 7x42, 8x42 and 10x42. They boast low-dispersion ED glass in objectives and very high quality eyepieces with a flat field.

In October 2009 Vixen announced the launch of a new series of binoculars called New Foresta, including the following models: the 8x32, the 8x42 and the 10x42. In March 2010, during the IWA fairs, they added two more devices, the 10x50 and the 8x56.

The new Prostaff 5 series, produced by Nikon, was launched in July 2013; it consists of four roof prism models with the following parameters: 8x42, 10x42, 10x50 and 12x50. According to the producer the new instruments are aimed a travelers and fans of active leisure – they are physically light, waterproof and shock-proof.

The Prostaff 7s series, produced by Nikon, was launched in 2014; it consists of four roof prism Schmidt- Pechan models with the following parameters: 8x30, 10x30, 8x42 and 10x42.

In 2013 the ACULON A211 series replaced the Action VII models. The producer presented at once nine porro binoculars with the following parameters: 7x35, 8x42, 10x42, 7x50, 10x50, 12x50, 16x50 and two zooms: 8–16×40 and 10–22×50.

An optical system of almost every contemporary pair of binoculars consists of three parts: an objective lens which gathers the light, a prism assembly, inverting the image and an eyepiece, decisive when it comes to a magnification ratio and a field of view. In a good optical instrument all those three parts cooperate harmoniously with each other, being good optical constructions in themselves.

The history of the 7x50 binoculars, produced in Jena, starts in 1919 when the Carl Zeiss Jena Binoctar was launched. It was equipped with an individual focusing system. The Binoctem model, with an ocular bridge, making the central focusing possible, hit the shelves only in 1931.
