Cons: The only con I can see is that the placement of the focus wheel can be more centered. It is a tad bit too far back.

Pros: The optics of this binocular are phenomenal. High contrast, warm-true colors...clarity. Superb. Some might demand a more flatter field like the EL but I prefer what this binocular has done. Very sharp and I feel a flat field that just stops at giving me the rolling ball syndrome. The focus wheel is very butter smooth and this allows for fast birding. The depth of focus is excellent as I get the 3D effect. Super sharp images. The accessories are very nice as the rain covers don\'t fall off while just walking around and yet I feel are easy to take off. Some might prefer them to be loser though. The objects covers stay on, don\'t fall off.... The case is a good travel case and I only use it for that or for storage and not out in the field

Summary: I have owned SLC\'s, HT\'s...I can clearly state that this is better than either of those. The HT had poor depth of focus and poor accessories while the SLC is essentially a brick put up to your face and poor focus wheel. For birding I want a quick focus and the Noctivid provides this. Build quality is excellent, ergonomics perfectly fits my hands. I can think of nothing else I can ask for in a binocular. I purchased mine at a 20% discount due to a used binocular in excellent, very un-used condition so I can \'t even nag about the price. A nice pair of bins.

Cons: - Placement of the lugs is about 2mm too low on the barrels for comfort - Not as wide a field of view as some other alpha binoculars - Heavier than most of its competitors by a couple ounces - Stated light throughout is a couple percent below the best competitors - Not as compact as the Ultravid HD+'s that this bin will likely replace - Not available in 32mm or 50mm or 7x - Not a flat field design; field curvature visible in outer 20% of the view - Lateral chromatic aberration

Pros: - Absolutely superb clarity and contrast--the best of any bin I have used - Optical quality is excellent, easily capable of out-resolving my eye on axis - Stray light control extremely good, no veiling flare except in extreme lighting conditions - Very well balanced so easy to "manage" despite the weight - Focus feel is just about perfect to my taste with no backlash at all - Lots of eye relief for those who wear glasses - Due to the large eye lens, more forgiving eye placement than many - Color saturation is outstanding and very neutral - Longitudinal (on-axis) chromatic aberration well controlled, though not completely absent

Summary: If you want a perfectly flat field from edge to edge, these are not the binoculars for you. If you want the lightest possible 42mm bins, these are not for you. Other than that (and the slightly annoying placement of the strap lugs), these are about as good as it gets. They aren't quite best in class for most specifications, but they are close. Oh, the views, though. The views are absolutely fantastic. It's all about the views, right?

Cons: Expensive Cordura pocket is not practical Strap system is like the old one. I would prefer a less antique system Weighs more than ultravid

Pros: Wow effect Still lighter and smaller than products of peer group No field flattening lense

Summary: I love it. In my opinion best 10x 42 you can get for money.
