Overall
Owner since: 1 month
Price: $230
User profile: Amateur
Cons: Minimum IPD of ~60mm Heavy - requires a sturdy mount Built-in tripod mount has some play in it A fair amount of CA when viewing bright objects
Pros: Great light gathering My pair was perfectly collimated Excellent price/performance Comes with nice hard case Accepts standard 1.25" filters (but this subtracts from eye relief)
Summary: Very impressed with the build quality and performance for the price. Not top-quality optics but very good for the price. Provides excellent views of star clusters and nebulae. I was even able to make out the bands of jupiter. Requires a *very* sturdy, tall mount. I use a D&S provista18 video tripod with FM18 fluid head and it works well. I also recommend adding a spacer between the head and the built-in tripod mount. The tubes are so large on these that clearance with the tripod head may be an issue.
