Do exist any all-purpose binoculars? Unfortunately the answer is ‘no’. There is no such an instrument which abilities are comparative and useful at night as well as in daylight. Of course for people who want to buy only one pair of binoculars, there is an acceptable compromise . Look again through two previous chapters and find something in-between the best night vision binoculars and typical day binoculars. No doubt this successful compromise will be 10x50 model.
Its 50mm objective lens is able to gather up to 56% light more than 10x40 binoculars, which make it also a good night vision instrument. On the other hand it is still 25% less gathered light than in 8x56 model.
The magnification 10x with 50mm lens diameter result with 5 mm exit pupil. So 10x50 binoculars are good low light equipment for elder people as well as good equipment for sky observation and at the same time good day binoculars because it supply almost entire gathered by lens light into retina.
